So you want some free relationship advice about the dating scene and why internet personals don’t work?

That’s good, because most men won’t ask for help or advice until it’s too late.

So let’s explore more about why normal, average, guys have a hard time finding that SPECIAL SOMEONE on the dating sites.

As we stated before (click here - Match Dating), one reason is the huge difference in the ratio of men to women on the dating sites – that’s not just free relationship advice, it’s a fact. The competition is fierce so you have to come to grips with this REALITY!

Second is that the ratio is even greater for the attractive women. Take the 10-50 times more men and most of them (us!) are after the attractive women, which means most of us are after the 30-50% of the ads that show an attractive photo. Because of this you might be competing with 100’s or even thousands of guys for the same attractive lady!

Third, there is one group of men that are doing fine. Actually it breaks out into two groups:

• One is the Brad Pitt/photogenically-perfect male model look, which always seems to do well.

• And the other is the aforementioned coupled with the player/salesman mentality.

The player or salesman types usually always do well because they know to write their ad and approach the dating personals like a game. The game is: “What does the opposite sex want and how do I portray myself as having more of it than the competition?”

Of course the women we have interviewed swear up and down that they can spot a player immediately or that they aren’t looking for players but we have found that they are sadly mistaken.

They are falling for it much more than they report!

Once we get past the indignant statements about how good they are at spotting players, almost all admit that they have fallen for one or two along the way. It’s almost prophecy that both women and men fall for someone that isn’t necessarily good for them.

And what about the rest of us normal guys that aren’t blessed with Brad Pitt’s looks or the player/salesman gifts?

We have it even tougher!

Many times we don’t even get a shot because our photo automatically eliminates us, or our non-salesman/player approach doesn’t catch any of the ladies eyes.

Add that to the good percentage of us that are either shy or unassuming and naïve about how this dating thing works and we have big trouble brewing.

The artificial pressure and unreal situation that is created by personals dating generates it’s own problems.

Everyone in the dating arena is putting their best foot forward while the real issues such as sex, kids, morals and ethics, financial, habits and pastimes, are downplayed or misrepresented. Pressure to find the right one clouds one’s perceptions. We don’t get the luxury of getting to know someone in a work or friendship situation, where we can see how they behave over a long period of time.
