Antiaging Solution
Doesn't everyone want an antiaging solution?
After all, who wants to be old?!!!
"I do , I do!"
Have you ever heard anyone say that except the young child that wants adult privileges?
Every society in the world deals with the aging process in different ways. Sadly in America we seem to be the worst offender for glamorizing youth and sexuality as the only ideal while implying that once you hit a certain age (i.e. 45, 55, 65 years old) you are a nonentity or a target market that needs to be parted with their money!
So let’s see – did you answer the question:
“Who wants to be old” . . . .
. . . . with a:
"Yes"?
Of course not!
Virtually all of us want to look and feel young.
Add to that the relentless marketing and promotion in the US media of the youth image as king/queen and you have a mindset that says:
"I WANT TO STAY AND LOOK YOUTHFUL!"
So you stopped here to learn how to do that, right?
Well, discovering an antiaging solution is one of the hottest research topics at the moment. It is complicated but here are some of the findings so far:
- How Your Skin Ages
Cells that make up the skin are constantly being replaced, but as we age the cellular DNA becomes flawed, allowing for the reproduction of more flawed cells.
In addition the body’s overall function and defense mechanisms become less effective, allowing for a decline in the skin’s ability to rejuvenate.
An example is the progressive deterioration of the micro-vessels (tiny feeder capillaries in the skin) which limit the blood flow. (This results in less nutrients and oxygen delivered to the tissues and waste products accumulate, e.g. dark circles under the eyes.)
Another example is the body’s ability to process and assimilate foods (which means vitamins and minerals essential for skin repair/rejuvenation) is diminished. Skin appearance suffers because of this.
Lack of proper hydration complicates the situation as does the loss of fat deposits and oils directly under the skin.
The specific internal culprits that seem to be lost as we age are collagen, elastin, and hyaluronic acid, which shows up as thinner skin that sags and wrinkles.
So over time those smile, frown, and laugh lines tend to become etched into our facial features!
- Genetics
If you want young looking skin then choose your parents better! We’re half joking but there definitely is a genetic component to the aging process!
- Enviroment: Sun Exposure
It appears that too much exposure to the sun is a major factor (UV rays damage the elastin in your skin, making it less resilient.)
- Lifestyle Choices
Smoking, alcohol consumption, lack of sleep, stress, lack of proper hydration (internal and external), inadequate intake of antioxidants and balance of hormones - all of these cause the skin to get dry, wrinkled or flaky.
So, short of choosing your parents for young looking skin, you are faced with making some or all of the following lifestyle changes to find an antiaging solution:
- Limit your sun exposure or use sunblock
- Limit or eliminate alchohol and tobacco consumption,
- Manage your stress
- Get adequate sleep
- Get proper hydration-drink approximately 8 glasses of water daily
- Apply skin moisturizers (see below for more info)
- Include antioxidants in your nutritional supplements
- Check with your physician to be sure your hormones are balanced correctly (human growth hormone levels are under scrutiny as an antiaging weapon)
- Avoid toxic chemical exposure
